Patricia Briceño – October Dance Palace Lobby Artist

October 1 October 31 PDT

Becoming a fiber artist was something that Patricia did not intentionally decide to do. It grew in her throughout the years without even realizing it. Having grown up in Yucatan where there is a long tradition of embroidery, Patricia’s first memories of handling fabric bring her the image of her mother choosing the right materials, that would later be sewn onto dresses for her and her sister. She appreciated and admired the special gift that her mother had in her hands. Her grandmother wore the traditional Yucatecan huipil embroidered with bright and bold colors in a white cotton or linen fabric, adorning her neck with beautiful filigree gold jewelry.

When Patricia arrived in California in 1995, she felt vulnerable to the cold weather of the north. Wool made her feel comfortable and enabled her to enjoy the new environment. Without formal training in art, she entered the world of felting for the first time several years ago, through the guidance of Polly Stirling, the pioneer of Nuno Felting.

There will be a virtual artist reception with Patricia, followed by a Q & A, on Friday, October 22, starting at 7:00pm.  Registration is required to attend, and will close 30 minutes prior to the start of the event.  Registration is FREE; click here to register via Eventbrite.
