The Poetry of Love: A Valentine’s Day Poetry Workshop with Colette Lafia
February 14, 10 am - 11:30 am PT / 1-2:30 pm ET
Love is something we live, often quietly, in the ordinary moments of our days. In this Valentine’s Day poetry writing workshop, spiritual director and author Colette Lafia invites participants to explore the poetry of love as a form of prayer. Drawing from her new book, Leaving the Shore: Experiencing Poetry as Prayer, Colette will guide us into a gentle, contemplative space where writing becomes a way of listening—to our lives, to love in its many forms, and to the presence of the Divine moving within and around us.
Together, we will slow down and create a holy spaciousness around our experiences of love: romantic love, self-love, divine love, love shaped by longing, grief, devotion, and grace. Through guided writing prompts, brief readings from her new book, quiet reflection, and contemplative pauses, participants will allow words to emerge as poetry and prayer: tender, imperfect, and true.
During our time together, you’ll be invited to:
- Experience poetry writing as a contemplative, prayerful practice
- Listen for the poetry of love unfolding in your life
- Write in response to guided prompts rooted in sacred listening
- Reflect in quiet community, with space for sharing if desired
All are welcome, whether you’ve written poetry before or are new to it. Come and write your way into love.
Participants are encouraged to get a copy of Leaving the Shore: Experiencing Poetry as Prayer, as it will be used throughout the workshop.
