My next free ranger program, Sea Chantey & Songs of the Sea Singalong is scheduled for this Saturday, May 10th, from 3:00 pm-4:30 pm at the Bear Valley Visitor Center auditorium.
Please bring your arsenal of sea chanteys, any musical instruments you'd like, and a willingness to laugh a lot!
NEW: If you'd like to email me the lyrics to any chanteys that you'd like to sing/teach, I will add them to my slideshow so that they'll be available for all to sing along with. Please email them to me before 9 am on Friday May 9th. fiona_o'kelly(at)nps.gov
It's so much fun when audience members lead shanties for the rest of us to join in on the chorus, and leading a song is encouraged! If you'd like to find a song (or songs) to share, I highly recommend setting one of your online music services to a sea chantey radio station and hear what's out there! Practice lyrics! Teach the chorus to our audience at the singalong! Our format is informal, mellow, and supportive, so if you've been wanting to push your comfort edge and lead a song, this is a perfect low-pressure opportunity. There will be a slideshow with song lyrics on them for singing along with. If you'd rather just singalong with the chantey choruses, that's fine too. We always have a great time no matter what.
For more information, please visit Songs of the Sea & Chantey Sing-along
No need to RSVP, drop-ins are welcome.
If you're unable to attend on May 10th, the following dates have been scheduled:
Saturday, June 21, 3-4:30 at Bear Valley Visitor Center
Saturday, July 19, 3-4:30 at Bear Valley Visitor Center
Until then, I wish you fair winds and following seas!
