Calling Community:

West Marin Commons and The Dance Palace Community Center are sponsoring a Barn Dance on Saturday, June 3rd at 6:00-9:00pm.  This is a Free event that engages everyone in the community, young and old.  The Dance Palace doors will be open at 5:00pm with pot luck snacks available.  We are working on a hot dinner food vendor as well.

The program will begin at 6:00pm with a presentation by the Point Reyes Children's Choir directed by Sarah Cain followed by the Tomales Bay Sirens.

Erik Thor and Hands Four are going to entice you to join hands and kick up your heals to traditional Barn Dance music.  Erik, the caller extraordinaire, will lead one and all whether you have never been to a barn dance or you are an old hand.  Ingrid Noyes on banjo/accordion, Matt Porter on banjo/fiddle/guitar and Paul Knight on bass will play and invite local musicians who would like to join in.

We want to get everyone engaged for this true community building event.  We need folks to make pot luck snacks.  We need folks to help setup and take down.  We want local musician to sit in.  If you are interested in any way please come to a volunteer organizing meeting at my house, 65 Fifth Street, Point Reyes Station (on the property across from the Dance Palace) on Sunday, May 21st at 10am.  Or contact me directly at (415) 858-8320, markswitzer@hotmail.com.

We are excited to create a new tradition celebrating community at the Dance Palace as a part of Western Weekend.
